One sheet of paper makes a 2” x 2½” 28-page miniature booklet with a cover.

Use regular photocopy paper to print all MiniBooks. Student books can be printed in black and white if color printing is cost prohibitive. Print classroom MiniBooks in color for use throughout the year by all students, and display them in a MiniBook LOCOmotion Library. Use a cheese-food box to make library shelves or book bins.

Booklet graphics include either black-line drawings and/or photographs. Featured words are hidden within all black-line drawings and students enjoy using a hand lens to find them. When assembled, half of the book’s pages have graphics and half are empty for student writing/sketches or instructor-recorded dictation.

MiniBooks begin as a teacher-guided activity but become student-guided with practice and time. MiniBooks can be used in learning stations for student-to-student interactions, or they can be taken home to strengthen classroom-to-home connections.
